Recent Work
Recently I have been working on a series of drawings and paintings and prints on one theme: pigeons and doves. This idea began with a small sketch of a pigeon. I have spent the last six months reading and looking at these birds and find them wonderful.
"They've been worshipped as fertility goddesses, and used as symbols of peace. Domesticated since the dawn of man, they've been used as crucial communicators in war by every major historical superpower from ancient Egypt to America and are credited with saving thousands of lives." They are chased by children in the park and poisoned by farmers on my street; people do not feel neutral about pigeons. This gives them huge potential as a topic in my mind. When I finish, I hope to exhibit a "flock of paintings."
